If I am wearing a pale or light skin then sometimes the Caliah preset works better for me. Unless I am wearing a very very pale or light skin, I usually use this setting. I used this setting to snap and play with the puzzled picture you see at the top of this post. The following is a raw shot from SL using my “closeup” windlight preset.īerry’s WindLight Setting for Closeups without shadowsĪs you can see it’s a very simple and clean setting. It’s great for darker skins because it’s a bit brighter and has a little less red in it. After a while though I decided to make my own setting especially designed for my closeup shots that I love to do. I love that preset and used to use it often in my photography. This setting is very similar to the Caliah windlight preset. The second windlight setting is actually to be used without SL shadows. I’m not sure how these would work or look in any other viewers. Please note that I use these two settings in Second Life Viewer 2.1 and also Kirstens Viewer. There is also another setting which a few people have been asking me about for a while so I thought I would add that in too. Please remember even when I use this setting, I still play around with the Sun/Moon position and angles each time to get it just to my liking. Since then many of you requested I share my setting so I’ve made it available for download. Since starting to use SL Shadows I decided to make my own windlight setting which I talked about in this video tutorial. I’ve been using these above settings over the years for many of my pictures. If you don’t already have those, I suggest you visit this link and download & install all of them at once. Most recent third party viewers are coming equipped with some of the best windlight settings created by SL residents such as AnaLu, Caliah Lyon, CodeBastard Redgrave and Torley Linden. Puzzled about which windlight settings to use when trying to shoot images? UPDATE: February 24th, 2011 – This post is outdated now, please keep up to date with all of my windlight settings on my windlight settings page.
